Open Doors 2016 – 2018: Exploring South Asia for 3 years
In collaboration with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) of the Swiss Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Open Doors aims primarily at assisting directors and producers from countries in the South and the East, where independent filmmaking is vulnerable.
From 2016 until 2018, the Open Doors initiative is discovering the diverse cinematographic landscape of South Asia and its promising talents. During 3 years, the project will cover the following countries: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Myanmar, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
The programme of Open Doors consists in 3 parallel activities taking place during Locarno Festival:

Collaborations on the ground
Open Doors extends its outreach program to assist industry players in the nations in focus by organizing seminars and workshops in the region concerned.
This is possible thanks to partnerships with local festivals such as Beskop Tshechu (Bhutan), Ekadeshma International Film Festival (Nepal), MEMORY ! International Film Heritage Festival (Myanmar) and Human Rights Film Festival Colombo (Sri Lanka).
