The Carte Blanche initiative was created in 2011 to showcase a number of films in post-production by emerging talents from a different country in Asia, Africa, Latin America or South-East Europe. This year the Carte Blanche is dedicated to Chile.
With the support from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) of the Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Cinema Chile and Australab, the Carte Blanche invites to Locarno five to seven producers to present their films in post-production to industry professionals attending the Industry Days. In order to facilitate post-production and sales partnerships, the works in progress are screened to film funds, festival programmers and sales companies.
Since 2012 the Carte Blanche awards the best film with a prize of 8,000 Euros offered by the Open Doors initiative.
